Changes to Port of Auckland Vehicle Booking System

18/5/2018

Beginning Monday the 21st May, Ports of Auckland will be making changes to the current vehicle booking system (VBS).

The new system will mean "bulk bookings" can no longer happen as each 'slot' is required to be allocated to a specific container number for both import and export.

For all export containers the pre advise / VGM information must be lodged prior to the container arriving to the port or it will result in it being turned away. The purpose of the change is to free up currently wasted capacity and resource whilst also allowing trucking companies to proactively manage their fleets. VBS slots will now be released 48 hours prior to the booking day and will be issued on a first in first served basis.

This will mean that you will need to give us the following information before we can arrange pick up /delivery:

Date for empty drop - will need to be notified a minimum of 48 hours prior to when you want it to be picked up.

Date and Time for Full to be picked up - will need to be notified 48 hours prior to when you require it picked up.

For imports all MPI, & Shipping Line holds must be released in order for us to book a slot.

The impact of the above changes will mean that in order to get a container picked up, delivered and then taken to port on the same day going forward will be much harder to achieve and subject to "slots" being available.

We have been assured by the Port that adequate slots will be provided and the change will now align the systems in place at both Metro Port and Ports of Auckland.

Should you require any further information or wish to discuss the above information, please don't hesitate to contact your CS Team.
